Online Psychological Counseling and Psychotherapy

Through online psychotherapy, I support people going through difficult life phases, even if they haven’t received a formal diagnosis. The focus here is more on providing guidance and support as they navigate their current challenges.

Online psychotherapy is also suitable for most of the issues that would otherwise lead people to visit an in-person practice: episodes of depression, anxiety, stress-related reactions, relationship issues, and the effects of trauma. The sessions can take place online from anywhere.

My practice is grounded in depth psychology and incorporates elements of EMDR, Gestalt therapy, and focusing. In online therapy, these approaches remain the same; only the setting is digital.

For German speakers around the world

People in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland

In some areas, it can be difficult to find suitable psychotherapists locally. Online psychotherapy fills this gap because experienced psychotherapists are accessible regardless of location. Video-based therapy makes access possible regardless of where you live. Many people also appreciate the flexibility and discretion of being able to receive psychological counseling from the comfort of their own homes.

Older adults who are young at heart

Many older adults wonder whether psychotherapy is still worth it for them and whether therapists are willing to work with them.
Her extensive life experience enables her to clearly recognize her own patterns and can significantly deepen therapeutic processes, including in video-based therapy.

Emigrants and those who want to become emigrants

As a frequent traveler, I have spent a total of over 10 years of my life abroad and am familiar with the feelings of homesickness, alienation, and feeling uprooted. Sometimes it’s just nice to hear someone speaking German.
As an online psychologist, I'm available wherever you are.

Because something needs to change

Together, we will understand and transform the patterns that underlie your experiences, behaviors, and relationships. Once these are deeply understood, their hold on you will loosen. Self-reproach and feelings of guilt will subside, your view of yourself and the world will become more compassionate, and symptoms will become unnecessary.

You’ll experience greater joy in life, more inner and outer freedom, and greater flexibility in dealing with the challenges you face. Together, we’ll help you tap into your own resources again and strengthen the inner aspects that are good for you. I offer you a safe space to do this. The methods I use will support you through this process, step by step.

What Clients Say

Training and Self-Awareness

As a young man, I thought meditation was the solution to my problems. It also gave me a sense of connection to life (the universe, God). However, it did little to address my internal and external conflicts, as well as my shortcomings and traumas. Perhaps you've been working on yourself for years, but still feel stuck.

I have found Gestalt group therapy, psychoanalysis, and depth psychology-based EMDR psychotherapy to be much more helpful. That is why I focus on approaches that bring about genuine, lasting change.

Since early 2024, I've been traveling a lot and have been practicing exclusively online.

Therapeutic Approaches in Online Therapy

Depth Psychology

In depth psychology, inner patterns are uncovered that once served a purpose but are now a source of distress.

Once these connections are intuitively understood, symptoms often subside.

Trauma Processing

Traumatic experiences often continue to have an impact, even long after they are over.

Trauma therapy (EMDR) helps people process and make sense of these experiences after the fact.

Form

Gestalt therapy brings you into the here and now.

Through the conscious experience of the present moment, patterns that shape our lives become visible—and we gain the opportunity to take responsibility for our own experience.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is online treatment just as effective as in-person treatment?

Yes. The research is now clear: Online psychotherapy achieves results comparable to those of in-person psychotherapy in a clinic for most conditions. Those seeking online psychotherapy generally do not have to compromise on effectiveness. This applies to depression, anxiety disorders, and stress-related reactions. A solid therapeutic relationship can also develop online.

The key factor is whether the online psychotherapy is conducted in a methodologically sound manner and whether both parties are willing to engage in the process. Read my in-depth article on the topic here.

How do people get in touch with you?

It's simple. You can start by booking a free initial consultation online. If it works out for both of us, you can book additional sessions on this page under "My Offer.".

Depending on your life situation and your needs, we can work together to adjust the frequency of our sessions. If you'd like to start online therapy, all you need is a stable internet connection and a place where you won't be disturbed.

Who is online psychotherapy suitable for?

For more people than most realize. I work with clients who can’t find a suitable psychotherapist in their area, who live abroad, or who prefer the privacy of their own home.

Online psychotherapy can also be an effective treatment for anxiety disorders, depressive moods, or stressful life situations. Online psychotherapy is less suitable for acute crises, severe dissociative states, or situations where a stable internet connection cannot be guaranteed. We’ll determine whether this format is right for you during our initial consultation.

Does health insurance cover the costs?

No. I work exclusively with self-paying clients. Billing through public or private health insurance is not possible. I made a conscious decision to operate within this framework because working with health insurance providers through my private practice had become increasingly difficult—and because I don’t want to have to justify my online work.

Many clients also make a conscious choice to pay out of pocket. Since no billing is submitted to health insurance providers, no diagnosis is documented, and online psychotherapy remains completely confidential.

Can trauma therapy be conducted via video conference?

Yes. I provide online trauma therapy, including EMDR. It works just as well via video as it does in a clinic—I adapt the methodology to the online setting without compromising its effectiveness.

Online psychotherapy actually has a specific advantage when it comes to trauma: you’re in your familiar surroundings. Especially after intense sessions, it can make a difference not to have to drive across town first, but to be able to relax right in your own room. In cases of acute dissociation or severe destabilization, in-person psychotherapy may be the better choice.

How long does it usually take before progress becomes visible?

Some people experience relief after just a few sessions, because simply naming their issues and understanding how they’re connected can already bring some resolution. Others need more time, either because the issues run deeper or because building trust in the process takes time. Neither of these is a sign of failure.

What it depends on: Your situation, your story, and what you’re willing to face. Promises that ignore these factors would be unrealistic.

What if I don't feel a connection with you?

Bring it up. The therapeutic relationship is the foundation of the work, not just a pleasant side effect. Sometimes it takes a frank conversation; sometimes it takes a little time. Both approaches are valid.

If you've signed up for one of the two larger packages and, after this conversation, still feel that it's not a good fit, I'll refund you the amount for the remaining sessions.

How often should the sessions take place?

If you’re in a stable place, a two- to four-week interval is often sufficient. If the issue runs deeper, I recommend working together through weekly video sessions. Consistency builds trust, and trust is essential for any real progress to happen.

Do I need any special tools or software?

No. The sessions are conducted via video; all you need is a smartphone or laptop with an internet connection. I use Whereby, a video platform licensed for online psychotherapy that meets data protection requirements.

How is my data protected?

Carefully. The video software is GDPR-compliant and hosted in the EU. As a licensed psychotherapist, I am bound by confidentiality. Since I work exclusively with self-paying clients, no diagnosis is documented, and your data is stored anonymously.
